Gift cards are the cleanest thing to buy with crypto. A code exists, it is transferable by design, and it can be emailed the moment a payment confirms. No address, no account, no waiting on a courier. Which makes the two ways to waste money on one worth knowing before you spend.

Region is the whole game

Gift card balances are almost always locked to a country's storefront. A US Amazon code will not load on the UK site. A euro-denominated PlayStation code will not redeem on a US PSN account. This is not a restriction any shop can lift — it is set by the issuer, and there is no support ticket that unlocks it.

So before you order, check which storefront your account actually belongs to. On the gift cards we sell, the region is stated on every product page, and if you order the wrong one the honest outcome is a refund rather than a code you cannot use. What you should not do is buy on the assumption that "it will probably work".

What a legitimate code looks like

An official code is bought from the issuer or an authorised distributor and has never been redeemed. It arrives as a string, sometimes with a PIN, and it loads onto your own account. That is the whole product.

What is being sold when a price looks impossible is usually one of three things: a code bought with a stolen card that will be clawed back weeks later, a code already redeemed, or account access rather than a code. All three end the same way — you lose the balance, and the payment cannot be reversed.

Why prices are close to face value

A gift card has a fixed value, so the margin on selling one is thin by definition. Anyone offering a large discount on face value is not being generous; the discount is the tell. A card sold at or slightly above face value with a fast, verifiable delivery is the normal shape of this market.

How the purchase runs

Pick the denomination, pay in whichever coin you hold — the networks guide covers which is cheapest for a small order — and the code arrives by email once the payment confirms. Redeem it on your own account, on the storefront it was issued for. Keep the order number until it is loaded.

What cannot be undone

A redeemed code. Once a balance is on an account it belongs to that account, and no issuer will move it. That is why the region check matters before the purchase, not after — and why a code should only ever be entered on the issuer's real site. Check the balance before you spend it

Every issuer has a balance-check page, and using it the moment a code arrives is worth the thirty seconds. It confirms three things at once: the code is real, it has not already been spent, and the amount matches what you bought. Doing it immediately also means any problem is raised while the order is fresh rather than a fortnight later.

One quirk worth knowing: some cards are sold inactive and activate shortly after purchase. If a legitimately bought code reads as invalid within the first hour, that is usually why, and it resolves on its own rather than being a fault.
