What Monero hides, and what it does not
On the chain, Monero conceals the sender, the receiver and the amount. That is a genuine difference from Bitcoin, where anyone can follow an address forever, and it is the reason people choose it.
What it does not do is make your purchase anonymous to us. You still give us an email address to receive a code, and a delivery address if something is being posted to you. Monero protects the payment, not the order. Anyone implying otherwise is selling a feeling rather than describing a mechanism.
Confirmation takes longer
Monero blocks come roughly every two minutes, but a payment typically needs around ten confirmations before it is treated as final — so twenty minutes or so is normal, and that is by design rather than a fault.
Send with time to spare inside your quote window rather than at the last minute, and do not send twice because the first one is still confirming.
Refunds need an address from you
Because Monero conceals the sender, we cannot refund a payment by sending it back where it came from — that information genuinely does not exist for us. A refund needs you to give us an address.
This is the practical trade-off of the privacy that makes the coin worth using, and it applies to overpayments as much as to full refunds.
Why some shops refuse it
Many payment processors will not touch Monero, largely for compliance reasons, and some exchanges have delisted it. That is why a store accepting it is worth noting — not because it enables anything unusual, but because it is genuinely harder to support.
